I told everyone that I have been here 4 years but in actual fact I came here in 2005. Although I did not stay long but I have been in and out of Cambodia since then.
This bridge has been replace with concrete and it has 2 lane for the vehicles. There were very few cars then but now the town has grown too big and too much traffic.
There was no airasia to Cambodia and since Fay and family were staying in Bangkok that time. I would go to spent a month in Bangkok with them, then took a bus to the border town Aranyaprathet (5 hours), walked into the no man land to Poipet, Cambodia. Took a taxi to Battambang. That was a three hours drive, the road was so bad that it was like riding on a horse back. Now it only takes 2 hours with good tarred road.
Transportation in no man land.
This scene is very common in Cambodai during the month of March and April.
My first trip from Battambang to Siemreap.
To market, to market to sell a fat pig.....
I have done Angkor Wat at least six times. but this was the only time I witness the sun rise directly on top of the main temple. It was a scene to behold.
It was March 2005, the weather was so hot that the river dried up. I slept through the whole fasting month because I could not take the heat.
The river bank
This house by the river has long gone. I wonder where are these people now.
December 2005, my two cousins came with me for Prema's graduation.
There were not many cars on the road then.
Life in Battambang was indeed very interesting and I was so young then. Hey, I still have this pink T-shirt! Just wore it yesterday!
